The Mishnah, created around 200 CE, is the first preserved compilation of the previous scholarly discussions and decisions regarding the Torah, the five books of Moses, and the law. In addition to interpretations and updates of the legal provisions, it also includes events. In both cases, the Mishnah provides insight into the conditions of that time and is therefore an important source for the study of Judaism and also Christianity. It forms the basis for further decisions in later times, summarized in the much more extensive Talmud. This edition is a translation of the Mishnah into German in a single volume, which has not existed before.
