Confirmation and confirmation are formative, blessing-strengthening experiences on the path of life. Focusing on the similarities and differences that emerge in the teachings and practices of both celebrations, in catechesis and worship, Kerstin Rehberg-Schroth systematically reflects on the theological aspects and concludes that the confessional emphases of confirmation and confirmation have lost their church-dividing effect. She develops a common theology and finds a way to connect the sacramental confirmation as a sealing and shaping with the understanding of the non-sacramental confirmation as a blessing. This allows for a perspective in which a joint celebration of confirmation and confirmation can also have its foundation.
