The legal intellectualism of the interwar period (1918-1938) is often discussed under the term "conservative revolution." Martin Heidegger is rarely included in this discourse, but with his critique of tradition and his concept of the "other beginning" in "the step back," he was a key representative of this movement. This book examines Heidegger primarily as a revolutionary, Nietzschean, and utopian of the Übermensch within this movement. It compares him with Ernst Jünger and Carl Schmitt, discusses productive appropriations by Manfred Riedel and Friedrich Kittler, and presents Thomas Mann as a positive alternative and main representative of a liberal variant of conservative revolution in contrast to Heidegger.
