The book provides an elementary introduction to programming for mathematical purposes. By concentrating on just a few concepts and choosing a simple programming language, a variety of mathematical applications from number theory and classical numerics to optimization, differential equations, simulations, 3D computer graphics, cluster analysis, and computer algebra can be developed with minimal technical ballast. The concept, which has already been tested with student teachers, includes exercises with solutions ranging from simple technical exercises to mini-projects. Didactic goals include: computer means computer, it works, counting and simulation, turtle graphics, number theory, calculation of functions, zeros, derivatives, integrals, optimization, fractions, complex numbers, vectors, space (vectors in 3D), images, videos, and cluster analysis.
