According to an ancient legend, four deities watch over the birth of humanity: Daimon, Tyche, Eros, and Ananke. Sooner or later, each of us must confront them. Facing these ambivalent powers means living life as an adventure. As we navigate through Goethe's "Urworte" and courtly literature, Dante, and philosophy, it becomes clear that the adventure awaits us not only in the wilderness or the boudoir, but is the fundamental experience of our lives. It is only livable because, with Elpis, the hope that remained in Pandora's box, a fifth deity shapes our existence. For Agamben, friendship is also a fundamental experience. As shown in reference to Aristotle, it is not merely a relationship between two individuals, but creates the political space of coexistence that precedes any identity or shareable experience.
