Das chinesische Schriftzeichen als poetisches Medium

Product details
This poetic essay by Ernest Fenollosa was created around 1908, the year of death of the American cultural philosopher and passionate Orientalist. Published in 1918 by Ezra Pound with a foreword, it was first translated by Eugen Gomringer in 1972 and released in the series Art and Environment. The aim was to explore the language and spirit of the much too little-known Chinese culture, of which knowledge in the West is still as poor today as it was then. However, Fenollosa does not provide a sinological study that could meet philological standards, but rather nothing less than a highly stimulating foundation for any aesthetics.
