Multidimensional signal processing is playing an increasingly important role in modern image processing systems. The volumes provide a unified presentation of one-dimensional and multidimensional signal processing. Knowledge of one-dimensional digital signal processing is helpful but not required. The first volume describes algorithmic foundations. Fundamental concepts such as spatial frequency, spatio-temporal image sampling, and filtering of image signals are explained clearly with many understandable examples, while still maintaining a theoretical framework.
