I am proud of my friends, which is why I wrote this narrative. I am proud to have friends and hope that they will still be my friends after reading this story and will continue to be. Friends are made early or late in life. Some friends are lost over the years, while others remain for a lifetime. Each friend is different, has their own character, and thus each friendship is unique. With friends, one can exchange thoughts, and one takes on responsibility towards friends. But how can one succeed in writing about friends without drifting into a general contemplation of the concept and essence of friendship? Janko Ferk takes on this challenge and sensitively and gratefully describes the friendships with ten of his closest friends in this work. These are people with whom he could share joy and sorrow, exchange ideas, and rely on. Because friendship, according to Ferk, is (a matter of) life and death.
