The conspiracy described in the Bible in Psalm 83 is often incorrectly interpreted as an alliance of Arab states against the State of Israel. This is because those who make such claims do not understand what Israel or Israelites refer to in the Bible, and the word Assur is mistakenly equated with Iraq. The "House of Israel" includes several tribes, and the tribe of Judah, which predominantly lives in Israel today, is a separate tribe. It mainly concerns the tribes of "Ephraim" and "Manasseh," which today correspond to Great Britain and its Commonwealth countries, as well as the USA. While there is a city in Iraq named Assur, this is not what is referred to in the Psalm. It refers to the Assyrians and not to present-day Iraq, which is referred to in the Bible as Shinar or Babylon. The Assyrians have been destroyed.
