He was just 23 years old and fresh out of university when he met Marilyn, in person and ultimately up close. Colin Clark, son of the renowned British art historian Sir Kenneth Clark, was the third assistant, meaning the runner on the set of The Prince and the Showgirl, the second film of the newly established Marilyn Monroe Productions, which was filmed in 1956 at the Pinewood Studios in London. None other than Sir Laurence Olivier, a family friend, the film's lead actor and director, had secured Colin this job, which led to the greatest adventure of his life: a week in close proximity.
