The renowned Spinoza researcher Wolfgang Bartuschat, whose recently completed complete translation now represents the definitive German edition of Spinoza's works, has compiled this volume with his most important contributions to Spinoza's philosophy. The volume brings together various essays published over the last forty years, some of which appeared in scattered locations and are therefore difficult to access. From a partly systematic, partly historical perspective, the chapters essentially cover three central areas associated with Spinoza's thought: first, the theme of ontology and subjectivity, which is the foundation of Bartuschat's book "Spinoza's Theory of Man"; second, essays on ethics and politics, which were only touched upon in that context; and third, essays on Spinoza's relationship with classical philosophy from Leibniz to Hegel.
