With the volume for the liturgical year C, the three-part series "Masterpieces of Christian Art" comes to a close. As in the previous volumes, images by the Old Masters primarily serve as the basis for exploring the scripture readings. Surrounding this central theme are works ranging from early Christian times to contemporary religious art. With words from Pope Francis, Wolfgang Vogl invites the reader and viewer to reconsider the value of images: "An appealing image allows the message to be felt as something that (...) can be connected to one's own life."
