Saul Miller, a brilliant professor of astrophysics, spends his retirement in Melvile. In his immediate neighborhood, there are Paz and her daughter Mia, an eleven-year-old girl whom Saul helps with her homework. Then there are Beth and Daniel, his friends and neighbors. And there are the hunters from the surrounding area who roam the woods. A failed discussion, a disturbing smile, and suddenly Saul's world explodes. But it wouldn't be Melvile if some of the legends didn't come to life...
