The number of publications addressing issues of corporate culture, leadership principles, employee participation, corporate partnership, or value change has surged since around 1984. Is this a specific "wave" that periodically rolls through discussions about the right form of corporate governance, similar to the debates surrounding Taylorism, the human relations approach, and corporate strategy that have already established a tradition? The authors do not share this view. The discussions about corporate cultures, value-oriented corporate governance, and future corporate development in general reflect the efforts of companies and entrepreneurs to create new forms of work and organization that respond to the structural changes in the economy and society.
