Abstract: Taekwondo is a Korean martial art that was developed in Korea approximately 2000 years ago. The goal of this art was to protect against attacks from the Japanese. Since the Japanese often attacked the country on horseback, it was important to create a defense or combat technique capable of fighting opponents on horseback. For this purpose, high kicking techniques were developed, which were often executed while jumping. Today's Olympic discipline of Taekwondo bears little resemblance to the martial art of that time. Increasingly, tactical and psychological-cognitive factors play a role.
