An intensive engagement with the current objections raised against human rights is essential for the human rights project. On one hand, the global respect for human rights largely depends on finding convincing arguments that can refute various objections. On the other hand, the politically and legally institutionalized human rights themselves, as well as the understanding underlying them and their practice, must continue to evolve in light of criticism. The aim of this book is to make a constructive contribution to the current human rights discourse by providing a comprehensive systematic overview of the central objections raised against human rights while also positioning itself argumentatively regarding these lines of conflict.
