This book is the product of my more than ten years of engagement with the problems of empirical research in the social sciences. It is aimed at students, colleagues, and practitioners in the hope of fostering a reflection and discussion process about the state of social science methodology in research practice. It has become a very critical book, although I have tried to formulate my thoughts with great caution and without polemics, and to convey my growing feelings of sarcasm and resignation regarding the analysis of empirical works and methodological practices in my scientific community not through my wording, but through the content itself. My aim with this volume is to make the reader more sensitive to the social science nonsense that is presented under the guise of seemingly objective (and thereby intended to be: untouchable) methods.
