The regulatory framework for interventions in nature conservation is widely recognized as a fundamental and central instrument of nature conservation and landscape management. It plays a crucial role as part of modern nature conservation policy and as a concrete guideline for preserving biodiversity. Against this backdrop, the Federal Agency for Nature Conservation has commissioned a research and development project on the methodology of intervention regulation in a nationwide comparison. Based on a nationwide survey of the current state of methodological application, similarities and differences have been identified. The final report presented here provides an in-depth analysis of the working and decision-making steps of the intervention regulation in thirteen blocks. The work concludes with a comprehensive synthesis of the results regarding the primacy of functional nature conservation.
