The accompanying volume to the exhibition "Ravensbrück 1939-1945: Christian Women in the Concentration Camp" traces the life paths of thirteen women who were arrested for their critical or oppositional stance against the Nazi regime due to their religious beliefs. At the same time, it sheds light on the diversity of different confessional cultures in Europe - the inmates came from Roman Catholic, Greek and Russian Orthodox, as well as various Reformed Protestant backgrounds. One chapter focuses on the religious environment of the women before their arrest, while a second part addresses the religious practices in the camp. The role of the Protestant Church in the nearby town of Fürstenberg during the Nazi era is also discussed. Seven essays delve deeper into these topics.
