Product details

On the instructions of the euthanasia center at Tiergartenstrasse 4 in Berlin, Jewish patients from care and nursing facilities in Hamburg, Schleswig-Holstein, and Mecklenburg were gathered in Hamburg-Langenhorn in the autumn of 1940. The 136 individuals made their way to the Brandenburg an der Havel killing facility on September 23, 1940, where they were poisoned with carbon monoxide in the former prison. Officially, they were reported to be accommodated in a comfortable institution in Chełm near Lublin; a non-existent registry office there later certified their deaths. In this volume, Georg Lilienthal provides an overview of the euthanasia action in the introduction. Ingo Wille outlines the process in Hamburg, but above all, he presents the life and suffering stories of the people affected by this murder action.
