This textbook presents and discusses the phenomenological method not only theoretically but also in its current intra- and interdisciplinary applications. "Back to the things themselves," as they are given in experience, is the motto of phenomenology as initiated by Edmund Husserl. To achieve this, we must question the obvious and bracket all assumptions. How can such a shift in attitude be achieved? How does one arrive at an unbiased description? How can the general be determined in the concrete, and how can we question the conditions of experience? This is explained with phenomenological texts and illustrated with current examples, as well as practiced in a hands-on manner.
