Product details

In this funny and heartwarming picture book, we meet a shy little giraffe named Kipekee. She is a bit different from the other giraffes - she was born without spots. But being unique isn't easy. On her first day of school, Kipekee looks around and feels like she doesn't belong anywhere. With the help of her new friends, she tries out some of the animal classes, awkwardly climbs the rocks with the llamas, and stretches her long legs while high jumping with the gazelles. But none of it feels right. She even tries to dress up in hopes that the others will accept her. Ultimately, Kipekee realizes that while she may not look like the others, she still belongs and that her uniqueness is perfectly fine and should even be celebrated. She is happy to be accepted - with or without spots. This book is perfect for preparing children for their first day of school and serves as a sensitive introduction to relationships and the value of differences at a time when little ones are building important connections with their peers for the first time.
