Product details
The famous Tibetan yogi Milarepa lived in the 11th century and became a kind of folk hero in his country. Wandering storytellers recounted his life and teachings even in the most remote corners of Tibet. His collected Vajra songs, recorded in the 15th century by the "crazy" yogi Tsang Nyön Heruka, contributed significantly to his great popularity and can still be found in almost every Tibetan home today. In his youth, Milarepa faced harsh trials and initially turned to the path of black magic to take revenge on his enemies. Later, he regretted this and turned to Buddhist teachings. His unwavering devotion to his spiritual father and tireless perseverance in practice ultimately led him to full realization and the attainment of human potential – Buddhahood. The Vajra songs are the spontaneous expression of his direct insight into the true nature of things. Are there still masters like Milarepa in our time? The 16th Karmapa, the holder of Milarepa's lineage, once said: "Lama Gendün Rinpoche achieved the level of Vajradhara in one lifetime, just like Milarepa." The translator of this book, Henrik Havlat, practiced for many years under the guidance of Gendün Rinpoche and worked on this translation, inspired by his blessing.
