Product details

The collected Vajra songs of the great Tibetan yogi Milarepa (1052-1135) are considered classics of Buddhist literature. They are the spontaneous expression of Milarepa's immediate insight into the true nature of things and testify to his deep compassion for all beings. These songs were written down in the 15th century by the "crazy" yogi Tsang Nyön Heruka. Even today, Milarepa's unusual life story and his teachings presented in song form serve as a great source of inspiration for many people.

In this second volume of the famous Vajra songs, further stories about Milarepa's wandering life are gathered, detailing his experiences in the solitude of the mountains and his encounters with people, goddesses, and demons. Readers will gain a fascinating insight into Tibetan culture and way of life at the beginning of the second millennium. Are there still masters like Milarepa in our time? The 16th Karmapa, bearer of Milarepa's transmission line, once said: "Lama Gendün Rinpoche has attained the level of Vajradhara in one lifetime, just like Milarepa." The translator of this book, Henrik Havlat, practiced for many years under the guidance of Gendün Rinpoche and worked on this translation, inspired by his blessing.
