It can be easily implemented by both teachers and parents, helping children with simple means in spelling. The workbook "The Little Spelling Syllable Guide" consistently applies this concept and uses the metaphor of a ship's pilot: The title character accompanies the children through the workbook, introduces the key content, and "guides" them through the seemingly treacherous waters of spelling. Fundamental knowledge components are also conveyed using the pilot's imagery: "Our words consist of small boats, the syllable boats. Each boat needs a captain (vowel) to be read and written safely." The Little Spelling Syllable Guide teaches students the basics.
