The present exercise material trains the precursor skills for reading, writing, and arithmetic. It was developed as part of the project "Starting School on New Paths" at the Cooperative Educational Center Seelbach. It can be used in the last year of kindergarten as well as in the first grade. "Ready for School" follows a holistic approach. Those who experience syllable cutting, word accent, word rhythm, and end rhyme in a round dance to a sung song are well prepared for reading and writing. These precursor skills are trained in "Ready for School": - Consolidation of handedness and coordination - Synchronous syllable speaking and clapping - Simultaneous grasping of quantities - Accurate assessment of laterality and spatial orientation - Improvement of articulation and language memory - Social integration into the group. The final test is easy to conduct.
