In this way, the mathematical prior knowledge of the children is expanded, allowing for a start from the same level. In the "MiniMa" workshop at the Karlsruhe University of Education, children were able to actively discover and explore the richness of mathematics through various play and exploration environments using materials and games. The documentation of "MiniMa" illustrates the idea of discovery-based learning in the first part, showing what mathematical discoveries children can make and how we can support them in this process. The second part presents learning opportunity cards that demonstrate what can be discovered with simple, often everyday materials.
