Middle Egyptian is the classical literary language of the ancient Egyptians, written in hieroglyphs. The grammar serves as an introduction for use in academic teaching and is also suitable for self-study in principle. It contains the actual teaching material in 15 chapters, 19 reading and exercise pieces, various indices, a vocabulary list, and a list of signs. Compared to the 5th edition, there are some improvements of errors, rearrangements for didactic reasons, and fundamentally, a shift to the transcription system of the Tübingen School.
