Constantin Hoffmann interviewed people who were professionally involved with Christmas in the GDR: the Pulsnitz gingerbread maker Ines Frenzel, artists Frank Schöbel, Ludwig Güttler, Peter Schreier, and the then pastor Rainer Eppelmann. The result is a unique retrospective on the Christmas celebration during a time when shortages of goods and ideological constraints often threatened to dampen the festive spirit.
