Product details

Kippenberger

In spring 2008, Albrecht Fuchs presented his selection of photographic works titled "Portraits," nominated for the "Deutsche Börse Photography Prize 2008" (held at the renowned Photographer's Gallery in London). The press had already responded enthusiastically to the release of the book with extensive photo spreads (such as in Welt and Frankfurter Rundschau) and declared the Cologne photographer to be the "darling of artists." This is no exaggeration, as evidenced by the small, inspiring, and initial series of photographs that Albrecht Fuchs took of Martin Kippenberger throughout 1995. He accompanied him to Dawson City, to the studio, and to the Black Forest, experiencing what he himself calls "his lessons as a photographer."

This immense phenomenon of Kippenberger, always and everywhere photographed, known for many outstanding visual ideas, spontaneous and witty, as some mistakenly believe, was actually very aware of his visual impact and calculated it to elicit the greatest possible fidelity to his idea from the photographers. This was not posing, and to the extent that Albrecht Fuchs became enthusiastic about this process, he developed his independent and sensitive portrait style. The book, in a special format, carefully printed and processed, is released in a small, signed, and limited edition of 800 copies, of which 30 copies are reserved for a special edition featuring three Kippenberger motifs.
