Neuropsychological diagnostics in severely consciousness-impaired brain-injured patients presents special requirements for materials and procedures. Standardized methods are usually not applicable in the initial stage of rehabilitation in the intensive care unit and in the early rehabilitation phase. The ERBSE serves as an examination guide for structured performance screening and is oriented towards the ICF codes of mental functions (WHO). Unlike common test batteries, cognitive performance is assessed using everyday action sets that facilitate independent actions of the patients, thereby allowing for an evaluation of their neuropsychological resources.
