Is the apartment a witness to our past, a mirror of our present, or an expression of our goals and desires? In what historical context do residents shape their living environment? This new, previously neglected perspective is explored here in an empirical study on housing from an interdisciplinary approach. Housing is viewed as a holistic phenomenon, providing a groundbreaking contribution to housing research that also proposes an innovative research model. Rich in detail and interesting, the fascination of living is examined not only through furnishings but also through the use of space: here, the history of appropriation, cultural, social, and individual temporal references, as well as the aspect of staging play a central role.
