The study examines time and space constructions in their specific staging through literary and cinematic works of the Holocaust, with a focus on the French-speaking world. Through systematic analysis, a differentiation and definition of types of spaces and levels of memory is made by contrasting narrative-literary and narrative-cinematographic storytelling methods. This results in a compressed representation of the various interacting factors within the memory process in literature and film. The different narrative and representation techniques of remembering in space and time, the (writing) place and time of the narrator, the motivation of the remembering individual, and the thematization and interpretation of different locations are investigated.
