Every seventh woman. According to statistics, every seventh woman in Germany is affected by sexualized violence, and the actual number is significantly higher.

Jana Baumann had to experience what this means when she was raped in a professional context. The act is initially incomprehensible to her – yet it is a reality she must now confront. She goes to the violence protection center, seeks support from LARA e.V., and consults with lawyers. In the process, she learns about the daily challenges faced by victims of sexualized violence and how little support the legal and healthcare systems provide.

She learns a lot, has to develop her way of coping with this experience, and engages deeply with the impact of structural violence. Throughout the entire process, Jana Baumann begins to find words and raise her voice. At the same time, the phrase "I have been raped." remains unspeakable time and again. Unspeakable is the account of a woman whose life is completely turned upside down by a rape. Jana Baumann describes directly and shockingly how she has navigated her path, how she found stability and courage again, and why she has not reported the crime to this day, but speaks about her experiences and wants to continue doing so.

This book serves as a catalyst for a discourse on abuse of power and sexualized violence, which is urgently needed to reduce the space for perpetrators by talking about it.
