The idea of bringing a sports car to market came from the Golf designer Giorgio Giugiaro. To emphasize its sporty and fast character, the car was named after an African desert wind: Scirocco. In the late 1980s, the Corrado was supposed to replace the Scirocco but was instead offered alongside it. Joachim Kuch documents the development history of both sports cars from Wolfsburg. Enriched with a lot of period color in the form of contemporary posters, advertising, and promotional material, he describes them with all their technical features.
