The work takes into account the growing importance of European law for domestic law and constitutional law, which has increased since the entry into force of the Maastricht Treaty. Accordingly, constitutional law scholarship can no longer be limited to the study of existing national state law, but must increasingly address inter- and supranational contexts as well as constitutional policy. The approach and concept of the book aim to convey a contemporary understanding of the constitution, its role, and function in the life of the political community.
