Throughout the history of Chinese medicine, there have been several schools of medical practice. Some were firmly rooted in the tradition of Confucian scholars and linked to the transmission of canonical texts such as the Huang Di Nei Jing. In addition to these traditions, there were also family lineages in China that preserved their knowledge as trade secrets among small groups of people. Over the last two thousand years of Chinese history, these family lineages have emerged and sometimes completely disappeared when there was no suitable heir to carry on the information. Furthermore, even when these secret family traditions were taught, the true depth of the information was sometimes withheld. This very traditional aspect of Chinese culture is certainly a negative and dark one, especially in the field of medicine. In Chinese, there is a saying: "Medicine is the art of compassion.".
