Michael Affolter pursues a threefold goal in his study: He aims to consider the dimension of reception in his engagement with the proximity-distance model of Koch/Oesterreicher. He contributes to the systematization of the concept of orality in writing. Additionally, he develops analytical and methodological procedures in the context of literary dialogue and its translation, which lead to a deeper understanding of this environment. In the first part, the author provides a presentation of the current state of research on the topic of writing-orality. He expands the model of Koch/Oesterreicher by incorporating the reception of the established proximity as an important additional dimension. On the other hand, he offers a comprehensive definition of literary orality and related terms such as fictional, feigned, and constructed orality.
