Product details

Christoph Martin Wieland (1733-1813) was a German poet, translator, and publisher during the Enlightenment. "Dschinnistan" or "Selected Fairy and Ghost Tales" is a collection of stories. A recurring motif in these tales is that of a fairy-tale realm with Arcadian features, inhabited by simple, content, and virtuous people, very much in the tradition of the shepherd idylls popular during the Rococo period. The narratives are populated by a multitude of miraculous wizards, magicians, and fairies of all kinds. Contents: - The Hexameron of Rosenhain - Narcissus and Narcissa - Daphnidion - The Disenchantment - The Untitled Novella - Friendship and Love Under Test - Love Without Passion - Dschinnistan - Nadir and Nadine - Adis and Dahy - Neangir and His Brothers, Argentine and Their S... - The Philosopher's Stone - Timander and Melissa - Sky Blue and Lupine - The Golden Branch - The Salamandrin and the Statue - Alboflede - Pertharit and Ferrandine - The Iron Candelabrum - The Griffin from the Mountains of Kaf - The Face of Mirza.
