Sahira Awad is an emerging hip-hop singer and active Muslim. In 2005, she released her debut album "Frei Schnauze," achieving significant recognition. However, she fell in with the wrong crowd and gradually sank deeper into an extremist faith community. Just before completing her second album "Mit reiner Absicht," she became lost in an excessively dogmatic belief system, was convinced that music was forbidden in Islam, and ended her music career just before her breakthrough. She married a religious fanatic, wore a full veil, and had to endure violence, abuse, and humiliation in this marriage. After a period of martyrdom, she separated from her husband in 2012 and managed to exit the fundamentalist scene. Step by step, she is now fighting her way back to her old life.
