Stress is considered by the WHO to be one of the greatest threats of modern times. A reaction pattern that has evolved over time is increasingly becoming a medical challenge due to rapid changes in lifestyle, as chronic stress can lead to illness. Doctors and psychologists are increasingly confronted with diseases and disorders that have their root cause in prolonged stressors. However, health problems, disorders, and diseases caused by stress require a special therapeutic approach, in which the symptoms must be viewed through a lens of systemic thinking and action. Stress medicine encompasses this significant phenomenon, which is important socially, medically, and economically, and whose (disease) genesis has so far received insufficient attention.
