In recent years, the field of "Gender Studies" has significantly invigorated the discussion surrounding the categories of gender and gender identity. As part of this development, transgender individuals, whose perceived gender identity does not align with their biological sex, have increasingly come into focus. The same applies to intersex individuals, meaning those with ambiguous physical sexual characteristics that are not clearly male or female. This volume aims to identify the need for action in dealing with transsexuality and intersexuality and to illuminate these issues from various professional perspectives. In addition to clinical questions—focusing on gender-affirming measures and the previously under-discussed voice treatments—medical aspects are also taken into account.
