Alevitism has been scarcely researched to this day from both theological and religious sociological perspectives; it was almost unknown to science until recently. In the publications that have appeared so far, Alevitism has mostly been viewed from political, nationalistic, and traditionally Islamic standpoints, whereas this work presents an examination of Alevitism as an independent religious community. Given that Alevis have been subjected to bloody sanctions and the influence of Islam for centuries, it is important to explore both the specific attraction and repulsion processes between Islam and Alevitism, as well as the connections and similarities between Zoroastrianism and Alevitism. The intention of this book is to reveal the essence of Alevitism and the hidden aspects within its rituals.
