The early modern Kingdom of Naples, which was under Spanish rule from 1503 to 1713, was shaped by Spanish-Italian language and cultural contact at all social and institutional levels. This work examines plurilingualism in Italia Spagnola using an interdisciplinary approach: Through texts from the period that belong to different genres of literature and language analysis, it reveals connections that emerge in the communication space between multilingualism and contemporary language reflection.
