The internationally renowned Polish exile magazine "Kultura" was founded in 1947 in Rome and later published, until its last issue in 2000, in Paris. A total of 637 issues addressed all the dominant issues concerning Poland, Germany, and Europe, ranging from literary, political, and historical aspects to the oppositional significance of Polish rock music in the 1980s, forming a relevant chapter not only in the history of journalism. A keen interest in the contacts restricted by censorship and other measures demonstrates the desire to seek the lost freedom in all areas of public life. This goal, hinted at in the theme of this dissertation and earlier in the title of an article by Konstanty A. Jelenski on German literature of the 1950s, brought about a new perspective after World War II.
