Political anthropology and cultural anthropology of the political have emerged as empirical fields of study during the turbulent times of the establishment of post-war European democracies. In light of current socio-political developments at the beginning of the 21st century, they are once again gaining prominence and challenging discussions. This volume brings together contributions from German-speaking cultural anthropology and European ethnology, which engage as empirical cultural sciences with everyday research fields. They understand the political as a conception of the social and identify it in everyday life as an interplay of interests that manifest in negotiation processes, action ethics, performative practices, and subversive strategies. The thematic focus of the discussions is on the relationship between humans and the environment.
