Sandra Umathum is a theater scholar and dramaturg. She studied theater studies, English, Italian studies, and philosophy in Berlin and Vienna. In 2008, she earned her doctorate with a dissertation titled "Art as Performance Experience," which focused on intersubjective experiences in exhibition art. From 2010 to 2012, she was a guest professor of dramaturgy at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater "Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy" in Leipzig, and from 2013 to 2018, she was a professor of theater studies and dramaturgy at the Hochschule für Schauspielkunst "Ernst Busch" in Berlin. Her research focuses on the theory and practice of contemporary theater and performance, performance and disability, performance as documentation, and contemporary forms of dramaturgy.
Jan Deck is a political scientist who works as a freelance dramaturg, director, and curator with various artists, ensembles, and theaters, particularly with his performance collective Profi Kollektion (with Katja Kämmerer) and the post-migrant theater periphery. Since 2006, he has been working for laPROF, the state association of professional free performing arts in Hesse. As an editor, he has published works including "Paradoxes of Watching" and "Making Political Theater" with Angelika Sieburg, as well as "Stop Teaching! New Theater Forms with Children and Youth" in 2014 with Patrick Primavesi.
