The "Book of Kings (Shahnameh)" by Firdosi is a significant epic of heroes that narrates the history of ancient Persia before the Islamic conquest. It begins with the creation of the world and guides readers through the development of civilization, not strictly following a chronological order. The tales encompass 62 legends in 990 chapters and include nearly 60,000 verses. The main character, Rostam, is a mythical hero who defends the borders of ancient Iran. This work is not only a masterpiece of Persian poetry but also an important piece of historiography that reflects the perspective of Firdosi and his contemporaries on the history of Iran. The first volume, translated by Friedrich Rückert, contains the tales I-XIII and offers valuable insight into the cultural and literary tradition of Persia.
