Tobias Philipp combines the theories of Bruno Latour and Harrison White to examine the interdisciplinary field of network research from a sociological perspective. He exemplifies this by qualitatively analyzing the argumentative structures in a typical article and complements these insights with a quantitative analysis of the article's reception. It becomes evident that the combination of both theories and their central concepts of translation, netdom, story, and switching proves effective in both qualitative and quantitative work. Furthermore, they open up the potential to guide the sociological reception of research areas dominated by mathematical and natural sciences and to meaningfully integrate genuine sociological expertise into those fields.
