For the Bauhaus anniversary in 2019: A picture book about the revolution in book and advertising design. In the 1920s, a design movement emerged with the functional graphic design of the New Typography, which rejected classical layout principles. The goal was to optimize printed materials for readability, standardize typefaces and paper formats, and overall align with the German Industrial Standard (DIN). The axial arrangement of predominantly sans-serif typefaces, presented with maximum clarity, without distracting embellishments, and featuring new-objective photography as a striking visual element, became established in the advertising industry and continues to shape our visual socialization today. The New Typography in Germany was notably represented by figures such as Willi Baumeister, Kurt Schwitters, Max Burchartz, and Walter Dexel, among others.
